Lucknow — In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Lucknow Police conducted a large-scale operation on Monday targeting narcotics sales across the city. Joint teams from the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), SWAT, and local police raided 30 identified locations across five city zones, leading to the arrest of six suspects and the seizure of 5,678 grams of cannabis and ₹9,420 in cash. Over 100 suspects were identified during the operation, and police are investigating the broader network behind the narcotics trade.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Bablu Kumar said that repeated complaints from residents prompted the police commissioner to order a coordinated operation. Teams simultaneously conducted raids at sensitive locations including Bharwara Crossing, Fun Mall, Madiyanv Pul, Singapore Mall, beneath Vinaykhand Shaheed Path Bridge, and near Bhootnath Vegetable Market, among others.

The raids were led by the ADC and ACP of the city. Four separate cases were registered across Gomtinagar, Madiyanv, Vibhutikhand, and Ghazipur.

- In Gomtinagar, Rakesh Sharma alias “Lambu” was arrested from beneath Vinaykhand-5 Shaheed Path Bridge with 1,140 grams of cannabis.

During the operation, over 100 individuals were identified. While no contraband was recovered from some of them, the police are keeping them under observation and reviewing their criminal histories.
The police said the operation aims to dismantle the narcotics network in the city and prevent illegal drug distribution, sending a strong message to traffickers.
